*ARC given to blog for honest review*4.5“Diet Coke” “Qbert” “Trying to Prove a Point” “I can’t help falling in love with you”KissesI love loving books…I love it so much when I can’t put a book down, or when I have to put a book down, it’s the worst, most painful, complete and utter torture. I love it when I smack myself in the face with my kindle because I literally can’t keep my eyes open any more but I can’t fathom the thought of putting down the book that I’m reading. That’s whatTrophy Husbanddid to me. And once again…my little quest for the perfect words to sum up my kisses left my stumped and stuck again…so I refuse to choose and that’s just how it is. What can I say, I’m a rebel who breaks her own rules.McKenna Bell…where do I begin. First of all, I loved her. To bits and pieces and back again. Couldn’t get enough of her. She’s spunky, she’s beautiful, she’s got a mind of her own, she has great taste (in many ways!), she’s a little firecracker…and I kinda wanna be her best friend. I know I say that a lot, but McKenna is definitely a girl crush for me. I can’t lie – there were moments I wanted to strangle her a little bit…a teeny tiny bit…but we all have those moments with even our best of friends…so she pulls it off nicely.‘…but yet as The King sings about falling in love, I can’t deny that there’s a part of me that a wouldn’t mind falling in love again. The kind where you can’t help it.The kind that takes your breath away. The kind that’s meant to be.I know, I know. It’s like asking for the moon, so I’ll stop my silly daydreaming. But, hey, at least right now I have a coveted parking spot.’ McKenna was a doll and even when she had been through something as horrible as loosing her fiancé right before her wedding to a younger, more attractive woman, she still found a way to brush herself off and move on with her life. Until she runs into them again. And the ‘newer model’ has the dream life McKenna should have had. *Cue Violins* My heart really broke for this girl – nothing about that entire situation doesn’t suck. :-(‘Elvis, and dreams of these foolish things. Things like love, and trust, and hope. Things like faith in another person. My heart winces for a moment, and a rebel tear forms.’ So what does McKenna do? Come up with an ingenious plan! Seriously though, the ‘Trophy Husband’ idea…who doesn’t think that’s not the most brilliant thing ever? Exactly! Cause it is…and not only is it brilliant…It’s simple. Three golden rules: 1.) Must be younger 2.) Needs to be hot3.) Perfect body – not an ounce of fat So what happens when the perfect candidate fits all but three of those criteria? Hmmm…that’s where the fun starts. ‘Is that so much to ask for? Love, and a talented mouth?’ Chris McCormick is my kryptonite. I can have tall, dark and handsome all day every day in my book boyfriends but guys like Chris melt me to my core. He gorgeous (of course)…he’s a sweetheart (of course!)…and the icing on the already delicious cake…he’s a nerd. DONE! I’m done…callin it quits. Give me a hot computer geek any day of the week…call me crazy but They. Do. It. For. Me. Oh yeah, he’s got other amazingly hot and wonderful traits too…like he surfs, fixes stuff and builds shit, so he’s manly on top of nerdy which makes him like a quadruple threat. I swooned into a big steamy puddle over Chris. He’s just fab-u-liciousness and I want him…now! ‘We make contact, and I’m not going to lie – there’s something about the feel of his strong hand in mine that just seems… right. Maybe it’s the firm grip, or his soft skin, or the way his eyes light up as he smiles while shaking my hand. I don’t want to let go. I want to go all black-and-white movie and have a simmering moment where his eyes smolder and, like magnets, we can’t resist. He pulls me in, dips me, and plants a devastating kiss on my lips. The kind of kiss that can ruin a girl for any other kisses for the rest of her life.’ So as much as I loved McKenna and Chris, I gotta be honest – I swooned over McKenna and Chris together more. The two of them together were…special. Like butterflies in my tummy, warm lovey feelings, mixed with holy shit they’re freakin smoking hot together. They had a great balance, I loved their banter and you just really felt their connection. Lauren is very very talented in that she knows how to write a scene that really makes my dirty book whore soul happy….but sweet lord and heaven above – I’ve never been so turned on over a few paragraphs about a dance. I mean CLEARLY I am not dancing correctly… ‘The slightest bit of contact with him turns me inside out. I’m not used to this feeling. I don’t know what to do with this feeling. It doesn’t fit in my life. It fits in a song, and I don’t know how to make it fit for me.’ There was a moment during reading that I though… ‘If she has one more imaginary anything and doesn’t make it a reality, I WILL crawl thru this book and smack her around’– it was a little close to torture, but that’s also part of the reason why I read romance novels, to be tortured. Plus…I did enjoy them, so I can’t be mad. The secondary characters were pretty amazing too. Julia (McKenna’s sister), Hayden (best friend and next door neighbor) and Erin (other best friend) were a blast to read. All very likeable characters and once again, balanced McKenna very well. Even Dave Dybdahl, Steely Dan Duran and the other trophy husband candidates, while minor, were very…entertaining :-) ‘It feels like he could turn me around, place his hands on my cheeks, and pull me in for a kiss. The kind that makes the world fall away. That leaves you powerless to resist, helpless to do anything but be consumed with an endless kiss. Nothing else matters, and the kiss is all there is, all there was, all there will ever be.’ I could gush about this book all day long, it kept a smile on my face and all sorts of happiness flowing thru me from beginning to end. Plus, she used the word verboten - don’t ask me why I love this word so much, but I do. I’m officially hooked on Miss. Blakely and all of her greatness, especially if this is what I can come to expect. And I’m super excited for Chris’s sisters story and hopefully for Julia’s story in the future! :-)

Rating: 3 out of 5.I don’t like it when the synopsis or the title of the book does not deliver. It feels as though seemingly unique story lines are used to entrap readers, but they fail to deliver on the uniqueness. It’s like reading stories about “courtesans” and “fallen women” in historical romances, and then you find out that the heroine is actually a virgin or has been wrongly accused of being fallen. It is disappointing and misleading. So in this story, while it may be a search for a trophy husband, the hero in question is older than the heroine, because of course all the younger men are either immature, overly-religious, anti-feminist or just can’t spell properly.

Inconsistent concept, unrealistic approach and unbelievable path taken. This book spent a good deal of time lip locked in imaginary romantic entanglements in McKenna's mind. The lead female, McKenna, while quirky, was also an idiot. She couldn't take compliments, came over as shy and yet we were to believe she would put herself out there for the world to see in an experiment that made her look like the biggest fool on the planet. The only sensible "friend" of hers was Andy, who, sadly, I had to wait around a while for before he let her know what a moron she was being and how foolish she was making herself look. All those females she was buddies with should be ashamed of themselves for trying to cultivate that lunacy. Then her behavior was even more inconsistent, especially given her alleged new lease on life with her ANYTHING YOU CAN DO I CAN DO, TOO campaign she was on trying to obtain the very thing her ex-fiance had, even though she didn't want it. *shakes head* so bizarre. She wanted to use men to accomplish a goal, or as she says, "make a point"...actually making her worse than her ex was by marrying a girl he met the night before his wedding to McKenna.Enter the only normal one in the bunch stage left...Chris. He was the only sense of calm in this sh*tstorm of a story. I think I fell in love with him myself when he asked her if she was being serious and if this whole finding of a "trophy husband" was a joke. His disappointment in her answer made me realize just how much respect I had for him, and I gained even more respect when she continued to choose her toy project over him and he told her GOODBYE. This was an uninteresting read as a whole, with only snippets of fun times that came in the form of vintage clothes, video games, Candy Land and Green Eggs and Ham.This may have flowed better if McKenna's behavior was more in sync with what she was trying to do, or derailed in spite of her efforts as a result of a shockingly sweet budding romance. Neither of those happened, except in her mind...it never came over as believable, but more like a cry for help.

4 sweet stars!!This is the kind of books that led me to read the genre in the first place. This was another sweet and fun read from Lauren Blakely. I loved that this book wasn't just about a romance between the two main characters, it was also about friendship, forgiveness and letting go. Mckenna seemingly perfect life was turned upside down when her fiance dumped her for someone younger whom he met during his bachelor's party. Heartbroken, Mckenna tried to pick up the pieces together and a year after, she was content. Her fashion blog is flourishing, she had great friends but deep inside she longs for something else. After a chance meeting with her ex-fiance and his new wife, Mckenna resolved to find herself a man. No, strike that a boy toy. A kept man. A trophy husband. But of course, like most best laid plans, this one didn't quite pan out as expected. From Dave Dybdahl to Steely Dan Duran (LoL!), Mckenna set out to find herself a trophy husband with hilarious results. An unexpected help came from Chris, a gamer who runs his video blog. Chris is handsome, gallant and yes, a geek! The attraction was there but alas, Chris is not Trophy Husband material. For one, he is older than Mckenna (TH is supposed to be younger) and he has a successful business. So while Chris was "helping" her find her trophy husband, the attraction between grew until Mckenna had to make a decision to let go of her search and allow herself to fall for Chris. I really liked the slow build up to their romance. It wasn't rushed. They started out as friends and it grew from there. Chris was a lovable character. I mean, come on! He is a geek who surfs and is super hot! What's not to love. But he is also very sweet!I also liked the secondary characters especially Mckenna's sister Julia. Hmm, I wonder if we'll get to read her story too. Overall, a very solid read from Lauren Blakely.

4.5 pac man starsA great story of rejection and learning to love again.McKenna was a feisty, independent lady, who had learnt to carry on after her ex had famously dumped her at the altar for a younger model he had only met on his stag night in Vegas!A famous fashion blogger, McKenna had a renowned internet blog that was very successful. It wasn't until she met her ex and his shiny, new girl in her favourite diner, that she decided two can play that game, and incorporated her quest to search for a Trophy Husband alongside her daily blogs. The story had poignant review and regret, humour, romance and great dialogue between McKenna and her girlfriends, workmate and a number of potential love interests, as well as her trusted canine friend, Ms Pac Man!A firm contender for my favourite shelf, I will definitely read more of Lauren's work..

I started this book looking forward to reading it. Then after 10% it was almost a DNF as it felt like she NEEDED a man to get by. And I prefer a stronger woman in my books. So glad I kept on with this, it just got better and better. I loved the relationship between the 2 although it did have an insta-love feel. They didnt really know each other all that well before saying the words. Overall I enjoyed it and will maybe pick up another of the authors titles

I liked this book. The characters were likable. I almost gave it 4 stars.PROS:-It was an easy read with no real angst. Some minor hiccups with the ex but overall it left me with a good feeling. -No major character flaws. I expected a fashion blogger to be a fluffy girl with no depth who just barely kept me from dry heaves. But she had a very down-to-earth side that was really sweet. CONS:-Too many fantasy sex scenes. Reading romance novels put me in a fantasy world. I don't need to fantasize about a fantasy character's fantasies. It's ridiculous. Overall, I think it's a good book and would recommend it to others

I really hate that I don't like this book. I wanted to and even though I didn't want to finish it after I finished a chapter I just kept reading hoping I would get into it that it would get better that it would hit that "high" point I need. But it didn't. It just fell flat for me. I was under the impression that it was funny and sweet but not once did I laugh. It was sweet but nothing really happened. It was just blah for me.

4.5 stars Trophy Husband was a delight to read. Ms. Blakely has woven humor, heartbreak and hotness in a story that reads like a perfectly paced romantic comedy. It ebbs and flows with earnest and humor. I found myself giggling out loud, "cute blushing" and wanting to scour vintage consignment shops for retro t-shirts and poodle skirts. Add this to your bookshelves immediately.Full review to come during blog tour on June 5th at www.fueledbyfiction.blogspot.com

*ARC provided by author for an honest review*For additional reviews please visit http://realitybites-letsgetlost.blogs...She has done it again! Lauren Blakely has knocked my socks off with yet another amazing book! I loved every single minute of it!!!Have you ever read a book where the main character says or does something really embarrassing and YOU become embarrassed for them? Like they are a real person or something? Yep, totally happened to me (on a few occasions!) while reading Trophy Husband.Poor McKenna has been out of the dating arena for a long, she sucks at the whole flirtatious banter that comes so easily to most. But at the same time, those utterly embarrassing moments are also hilariously funny! I could not help but laugh at her valiant attempts. Here is one example of her trying to flirt with the FedEx delivery guy."Hi there. Got a package for you. Want to sign?""I would love to sign your package," I purr back."And OMG, the dates were horrible! These guys were a few cards short of a full deck. But I think even though they were bad, they were also good experiences for McKenna. After a year of sitting idle, she needed to jump in and get her feet wet. And having a few awful dates was worth the price (or at least I think so) for the perfect non-dates she has with Chris.Oh Chris...be still my heart! Now, I fell for Chris from the start (and it totally has NOTHING to do with the fact my hubby shares the same name. Okay, maybe a little something to do with it!). He just seemed like the perfect fit in Mckenna's life from the start. They shared so much in common it was hard for them not to be a match made in heaven. But McKenna is dedicated to her Trophy Husband search and Chris just doesn't meet one of the search criteria. And she can't add him to the list of potentials because then she would be breaking the rules. Right? This book was a quick funny read. And the steam factor is definitely there (even though most of it is only in McKenna's daydreams!). Man, does that girl have one vivd imagination! Trophy Husband is one I recommended to anyone who is looking for a light hearted book that does not have a cliffhanger.

Three starsI liked it, but it didn't wow me. I wanted a little more. McKenna was kinda moronic in a way, though I did want to slap her asshole of an ex. What an asshat! Plus, how could she not know that her friends would've been fine with her calling the "hunt" off? At least our Hero, Chris, is adorable...he made the story worthwhile :)

Trophy Husband Audiobook by Lauren Blakely, Narrated by  Samara NaeymiPart of a standalone seriesSweet sexy and steamy! Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely was sitting in my audible library for some time, and now that I have to listen to more books, I figured it was time to start it. I’m so glad I did! At just under six hours, this was a pretty short audible book, and it really hit the spot.McKenna Bell is a fashion blogger/webshow host living in New York City. I loved her, she reminded me of so many of my friends. Down to earth, a little retro, spunky, and just…relatable. McKenna's fiancé left her the day before their wedding for a younger gymnast and married her quickly. She was still happy…until she ran into the couple, and saw this younger, prettier girl living the life she was supposed to lead.So McKenna decided she wanted a trophy husband. If the guys can do it, why can’t she? There would be only a few rules:1-He must be younger.2-He needs to be HOT.3-He has to have the perfect body, no fat anywhere.4-He can’t have a good career, he needs to be a “kept” man after all.Is that so much to ask for? Love, and a talented mouth?"With the help of her friends (who I also enjoyed), McKenna introduces the contest on her video blog. It really took off when it was picked up by Chris, who runs a super popular gamer/geek video blog show.Ahhhh, Chris. Tall, dark, handsome, sexy, funny, a total geek, and very successful. Unfortunately, he is not trophy husband material. He has hot and no body fat down pat, but he is older than McKenna, and has a super successful career. But as they discuss cross-promotions, things heat up, and the trophy husband contest rules are bent a bit. McKenna still dates other candidates, and the dates were fun to hear about, especially “Steely Dan Duran”. But nobody measured up to Chris. The real reason I agreed to do your contest wasn't to promote my show. I couldn't care less. I did it because I wanted to be in the running. I want to be the only one in the running. I want you.”But freaking McKenna can’t let go of her stupid contest!Likes:•They were both geeky.•I really liked both main characters.•Quick, easy, fun, sassy book.•Sexy times.•I enjoyed all the characters, including the friends and the dates.•Unique storyline.•I liked the narrator, she seemed very normal, and great for a New Yorker.•Chris….sigh…Dislikes:•McKenna had a lot of inner thoughts she didn’t act on.•She let it go on way too long.Rating: 4-4.25 stars, 4 HeatThe Down & Dirty:Trophy Husband was a fun, sweet and sexy read. It felt like chick-lit, despite the romance. It just had the light, sassy feel. It was a quick listen despite it being a full length book, and I really enjoyed the narrator. This is third in a series, and I had no idea until writing this review, so it totally stands alone. I laughed, giggled, swooned, and walked my dog listening to this with a big goofy smile on my face.Purchase Trophy Husband by Lauren Blakely Kindle| Audible | BN.com |iBooks[image error]

After being dumped for a much younger woman the day before her wedding, McKenna’s ready to get her revenge. No, she’s not going to get violent. There will be no stalking or retaliation against the new bride. No, McKenna’s plan is to get herself a trophy husband to prove that it’s not just men who can play that game. To find her candidates, McKenna solicits the help of her friends and her blog’s followers -- but she never planned on actually falling for someone mid-crusade.I have a bunch of Lauren Blakely on my TBR. This was actually one of four of her books that I bought and then just... didn’t read for some reason. I know she’s a big name in romance and I’m not really sure why I’ve never picked up any of her books, but I’m glad that I finally did. This book was a lot of fun! There’s relatively little drama (just enough to keep things interesting) plus a lot of bonus factors like good dogs and a fictionalized version of Ellen. There were, of course, a couple things I would have changed (when are there not, though, I know I’m picky) but overall this was a really cute book and I liked both McKenna and Chris. I actually have a couple of the other books in this series, so keep an eye out for those reviews too once my life slows down a bit.

Trophy Husband is the perfect romance novel - romantic, sexy, and witty with strong, lovable characters and a solid, well written storyline. I could end right there, because I think that pretty much sums it up, but I will gush a little.....The storyline is completely plausible and I can totally relate to it. Essentially, our heartbroken heroine, McKenna, goes on a point-making crusade to demonstrate that it isn't only men that can snag a 'trophy spouse'; women can land a "Trophy Husband", too. In the course of this experiment, McKenna learns a lot about who she is, what she wants, and finds the courage to love and trust again - she's not broken, as she thought. Just a little banged up. The characters in this book rock, too. McKenna is smart, witty, loyal, lovable, and very real. Her group of girlfriends in the book totally add to the story and aren't a meaningless distraction. Their conversations could absolutely be me and my friends talking and laughing. Chris, our hero, is a strong man and I love that. No douchebag here. No arrogance. No sex-crazed lunatic. No die-hard romantic that gets walked all over either. He is a cool, respectable, loyal, down-to-earth working man, but will totally stand up for himself. And did I mention he is crazy good looking?! He is literally the epitome of the guy you hope you meet if you are ever single. The author's writing style is amazeballs. Trophy Husband is funny (not in-your-face, that's so obvious funny, but a more realistic, witty type of funny). This book has some steamy, very sexy scenes - I literally fanned myself a couple of times. And it is smart - I love the use of language and little word gems throughout. So all of that is great, but here's the proverbial icing on the cake: you never want to punch McKenna. You never hate her, think she is weak, or have a hard time understanding or justifying her actions. This is a BIG problem for me in a lot of books - I am over the weak female lead. But McKenna is the exact opposite and I LOVE that. I would (and am!) recommending this book to all of my friends. Reading it is like listening to your best girlfriend tell you a story. You will laugh, get mad, want to dole out hugs, get teary eyed, become a cheerleader, and I audibly sighed a number of times. The pages of this one turn themselves - an absolutely perfect read!

When I think of books that can be turned into romantic comedy movies, Trophy Husband would be at the top of my list. It has everything one can ask for in a movie of that genre: endearing heroine, charming leading man, great supportive characters, witty and humorous writing/dialogue and a wonderful plot. Blakely did a great job of blending all of these details to create a fun, sexy, feel good book to read on a weekend or by the beach or pool. The writing was fresh and light. Blakely had a way of putting things out there that was both meaningful and humorous. She was able to express the heartache and fears of our female lead, McKenna, without bogging the story down to a depressive level. Regardless of the scene, the wit and humor never strays to far. It makes it very easy to enjoy the story. I especially loved the dialogues between McKenna and Chris. It was funny and free flowing. You can sense the genuine connection between them. It just felt so natural between them.I thought McKenna was a great female lead. She was funny, smart, and so comfortable with her own brand of style and quirks. She's a very likeable person so it wasn't hard to feel for her in regards to her situation with her ex-fiance, Todd (who jumped to the top of my douchebag characters list). As strong of a person she is, I appreciate the vulnerability she possessed. I think she reflects many of the things women want in a relationship. I find myself agreeing with Chris, she is a very cool chick who you would want to be friends with.As for our leading man, Chris, he is adorable. He's a great combination of hot surfer, tech savy, video game genius and all around sweetheart. It was very easy to see how McKenna could fall for him. I think he's the kind of guy women look for: he's a guy who will accept a girl for all that she is. The sexiest thing about him was how he loves everything about McKenna. All around , I can just eat him up.It speaks a lot about a book when I finished it within a couple of hours. Trophy Husband was an entertaining read that I couldn't put down. I was left feeling all warm and fuzzy inside after finishing this book. This is a wonderful HEA story. This is the kind of book you can take with you to pick you up when you are down. I look forward to any future works by Ms. Blakely.*Received my paperback copy through a giveaway by InkSlinger PR

Review of eARC McKenna Bell is a young, successful woman. She is happily planning her wedding when her fiancé dumps her, by voicemail, and marries someone else, the day before the planned wedding!Following an impromptu meeting with her ex, and his new younger wife, McKenna decides to play the field more, in a different way than usual. She decides she can play the same game men do - she can find herself a younger, sexier man to be her Trophy Husband.Together with her female friends she comes up with a plan. She will use her successful fashion blog to post videos about her dates, her clothes choices, everything. She will allow the viewers to become part of her quest to find love, to find a man who wants to become a kept man. What she doesn't count on is meeting a kindred spirit, Chris, in a games shop. He turns out to be as much of a games geek as she is. But he is counted out of the race from the start by his age. McKenna and her friends agreed that any potential candidates must be 23 years of age or younger. McKenna comes up with a plan, a business plan, which will benefit both her and Chris. But can they keep it purely business? In her quest for a Trophy Husband has she, in fact, found her ideal partner? Or will her loyalty to her friends and their agreement force her to bypass her own happiness and follow through in her quest? This is a lovely story with a lot of humour in it. The way she describes the dates McKenna goes on is hilarious at times. Yet it also has a lot of affection, as well as sexiness, in it when she describes McKenna and Chris' later dates. The author definitely pulled me into the storyline, wishing that McKenna would do what she wanted, what would make her happy, rather than follow what her friends wanted her to do.All in all a great story with equal measures of humour and sexiness which combined make it work really well.

I have had a great run the past few days of fun, sweet, sexy, easy reads, including Trophy Husband. I had just read the Seductive Nights series so I was already familiar with McKenna and Chris. I didn't realize she had her own book, where we got to know her story and see how she and Chris fell in love. And I didn't realize I owned this book as part of the Love, Laughter, and Steamy Ever Afters anthology...I'm so glad I was searching through my Kindle for all the Lauren Blakely books that I own!McKenna is such a great character...she's strong, vulnerable, feisty, smart, independent. She has an amazing, job, great friends and family, but she really just wants to be loved. After being jilted by her jerk of an ex the night before their wedding, she's spent the past year holding onto the pain and nursing a broken heart...and she's tired of it, she's ready to let go and move on.This is a sweet, fun book, not in any way angsty or drama-filled. It's a lovely romance, that builds from friendship and blossoms into an all encompassing love. I really enjoyed McKenna's transformation, as she came to realize she didn't need to feel sorry for herself any longer, that she didn't need to hold onto the anger at her ex. And Chris is a doll! You could tell he wanted McKenna to himself, even while he went along with her little game. I loved these 2 together!

McKenna is one of my new favorite characters! She was quirky and fun and I just kept picturing Autumn Reeser (The OC, Hawaii 5-0) the whole time I was reading. She had the adorable but slightly neurotic thing going for her. The premise of the book was so fun and entertaining! All girls need a trophy husband tryout!Chris is one of my new favorite book boyfriends. A charming and sexy gamer with more than trophy husband potential. The beginning of the book drew me right in and the author did an amazing job of letting readers know that McKenna had been through a painful ordeal with her ex without drowning us in backstory. Most of the other reviews have pretty well covered the awesomeness of this book, but I have to mention the one thing that really stuck out to me. The girl McKenna's ex left her for isn't your stereotypical bimbo like I was expecting. The author made her an actual person, and a decent one which was refreshing and believable.Unique storyline with fresh and fun characters! What's not to love?
